Success! Sorella MTB Skills Clinic at Blankets Creek

May 7, 2012

mtbclinic2012We had great attendance from mountain biking ladies at our Sorella MTB Skills Clinic at Blankets Creek on Sunday April 29th. Led by Sorella MTB race team members Lisa Randall, Julia Radmann, and Kim Moore, the group spent the morning learning about body position, looking ahead, and cornering. After practicing drills in the skills area, we hit the Van Michael trail and started putting the new knowledge to good use. Some of our ladies had especially great breakthroughs riding up and down the tight switchbacks. Feedback on the clinic was overwhelmingly positive and demand for more is high, so watch out for more trail clinics soon. In addition to our clinics, you should consider taking the full 2-3 day clinic with professional skills coach and Sorella sponsor Gene Hamilton (Better Ride) who has polished the technical skills of most of the Sorella race team.

WRDPeachtree Bikes is teaming up with Specialized and Sorella Cycling to bring the ladies of metro Atlanta a Women’s Ride Day! Women across the nation are gathering for Women’s Ride Day to enjoy a ride together on their local streets and trails to celebrate women in cycling. So, dust off the ole road bike and come out to join us at the Buckhead location at 10am on April 28th for 21 miles of scenic HILL CLIMBING fun!  Sorry about the hills, but that’s just how this area rolls!  There are a couple of opportunities to cut the hills short and we’ll have route sheets for those looking for a bailout opportunity here and there. The ride will be led by Sorellas Miriam Vos and Stacey Kalberman. The pace will be 12-14 mph (depending on the group) and it is a NO DROP ride!  So, come out and ride with us!

Sorella Cycling presented by Hincapie Sportswear

April 17, 2012

HincapieSorellas had a wonderful time at the annual meeting welcoming our new presenting sponsor Hincapie Sportswear. Cycling began in the Hincapie family when Ricardo Hincapie developed a passion for it while racing bicycles in his native Columbia. He introduced his sons, George and Rich (pictured below at our annual meeting, photo credit Trish Albert/SoutheasternCycling) to the sport he loved as soon asrich they were old enough to turn the pedals. All three Hincapie men continue to share a passion for cycling.  The company owned factory in Medellin, Columbia is run by George and Rich’s aunt and uncle, Marie and Jorge Hincapie. Together they have over 30 years of apparel manufacturing experience. Hincapie produces custom garments for large and small teams and clubs, races and rides, corporations and charitable organizations. Additionally, they have created an extensive line of men’s and women’s premium retail apparel that is available through bicycle dealers and directly on Hincapie.com.

Welcome Swiftwick!

March 21, 2012

2010SW Logo wtag REVWe’re please to announce our new sponsor Swiftwick! There are ordinary socks, and then there are Swiftwick socks. Swiftwick socks are knitted at 200 needles; the highest density you’ll find in socks. The higher the needle count, the tighter the knit. Swiftwicks are so tightly knitted that trail debris or foreign material can’t penetrate your sock to cause irritation and blistering. This structure creates a second-skin feel, prevents shifting or bunching and eliminates the risk of friction blisters while making your shoes fit more comfortably. Our high-gauge construction produces a softer, denser, and more durable garment. Wear Swiftwick and you’ll buy fewer socks — It’s that simple. Swiftwick makes our very own custom Sorella Cycling Olefin One socks. Check out the new Sorella/Swiftwick design on our facebook page.
